Contract type: ·        Full-time: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. However, you will be required to work outside of normal office hours, at evenings, and weekends

·        Fixed Term until 30th September 2022 with the potential to extend in line with funding

Location: Turf Moor, Harry Potts Way, Burnley BB10 4BX and Leisure Box, Glen Way, Brierfield BB9 5NH. You will be required to work away from these locations as required to fulfil your duties and responsibilities.

The role

Working closely with the Head of Community Welfare and Inclusion, the successful candidate will play a leading role in developing and delivering a wide range of Health and Wellbeing projects in Burnley, Pendle and the surrounding areas.


Based at both Turf Moor and The Leisure Box, you will be responsible for activating an innovative and impactful health and wellbeing programme for Burnley and Pendle communities that engages the community.


Role expectations

The Health and Wellbeing Project Co-Ordinator will be expected to:

  • Build upon the current Health and Wellbeing programmes and delivering these whilst expanding them to their full potential. This will include delivering on new projects associated with healthy lifestyles, mental and emotional health, and wellbeing, seek new opportunities for Health initiatives.
  • Be responsible for working within the Health and Wellbeing budget as implemented by the CEO and Head of Community Welfare and Inclusion.
  • Have a strong understanding of up to date and currently health and wellbeing government issues.
  • Have an understanding of inequalities and health needs that exist in the community.
  • Work with and build positive working relationships with other relevant agencies both statutory and voluntary, to ensure a coordinated approach to the delivery of services.
  • Work with the marketing team to ensure that your projects receive appropriate coverage linked to impact.
  • Have an excellent knowledge and awareness of safeguarding.
  • Manage a small team of staff and volunteers.
  • Attend networking events, workshops, conferences, and training sessions as appropriate.
  • Promote the Burnley FC in the Community brand and ethos in a professional, strong, and positive manner.
  • To be able to work flexible hours where required.
  • Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of the organisation as and when required to promote best practice.

An ideal candidate will have;


  • Experience of working and delivering in a sport/community setting engaging with the community on health and wellbeing related issues.
  • A proven track record of working with adults or children and young people educating them in health and wellbeing.
  • A driving licence with access to own transport.
  • An understanding of Burnley, Pendle and the surrounding geographical areas.
  • An understanding of local population need and the inequalities that exist.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to build and sustain positive relationships with local stakeholders.



  • An understanding of new and existing health initiatives at a National and Regional level.
  • Degree level education.
  • Bid writing experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience of managing staff.
