BFCitC named Pitching In Northwest Football Awards finalist

Burnley FC in the Community has been announced as a finalist in two categories at this year’s  Pitching In Northwest Football Awards.

Burnley FC’s official charity is in the running for Community Club of the Season – Premier League (in association with the PFA) and Community Initiative of the Season (in association with the PFA) for our Veterans programme.

The Claret nominations continue with Burnley FC Manager Sean Dyche up for the Manager of the Season prize, while Nick Pope and Dwight McNeil – along with Burnley FC Women duo Evie Priestley and Lauren Bracewell – are in the running for an award after a panel of judges and public vote whittled down the original shortlists.

Now in it’s 13th year, the 2020 ceremony will look very different due to current restrictions surrounding COVID-19.

The 2020 honours will be announced in a digital ceremony taking place across the Northwest Football Awards’ social channels and website from 10.00 am on Monday, 9 November.

The NWFA is honoured to again be supporting the Darby Rimmer Foundation.

Former Bradford City footballer Stephen Darby, who also played in the North-West for Liverpool, Rochdale and Bolton Wanderers, together with his close friend and former British Forces veteran, Chris Rimmer, set up the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation after Stephen’s sudden retirement from football in September 2018, on being diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) at the age of 29.

MND is a degenerative condition that affects how nerves in the brain and spinal cord function. There is currently no cure.
