Two Burnley FC in the Community staff members, Gwilym Jones (Primary and Secondary Schools Engagement Manager) and Michael Colquhoun (Head of Community Welfare and Inclusion) are set to complete a charity cycle from Turf Moor to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the last weekend of the Premier League season, the 20th, 21st and 22nd May 2021.
The cycle is approximately 250 miles and will take around 2.5 days to complete. On route, the pair will stop off at other Football Clubs including Manchester City, Stoke City, Leicester City, MK Dons and Northampton Town. At these stops, they will be promoting the fantastic work of each of the club’s Community/Foundation sectors.
Training is underway for Gwilym and Michael to make sure they’re ready to take on the mammoth challenge!
They are doing this to raise vital funds for three charities close to their hearts.
Burnley FC in the Community
Our work is channelled into key areas including, Education & Employability, Community Welfare & Inclusion, Football Development and Community Facilities. Our team now deliver over 50 community projects that touch the lives of a huge spectrum of people in and around Burnley.
Though we are embedded within the ethos of Burnley FC, we are financially independent from the football club. We rely on fundraising activities, donations, sponsorships and grants to do the work we do and every penny we raise goes to developing new opportunities for those who need it most.

The charity supports Veterans both physically and mentally by encouraging them to overcome their disabilities through physical challenges.
Their mantra is ‘Always a Little Further’. Pilgrim Bandits pushes those that have already endured so much to go beyond endurance – to embrace life again and in so doing inspire others.
