Burnley FC in the Community are holding an open day at Turf Moor on Thursday 24th February for the Street Soccer Foundation programme intake.
BFCitC are proud to partner Street Soccer Foundation, who through the power of football, raise awareness of youth homelessness nationwide throughout England.
The award-winning charity provides a 10-week personal development programme for vulnerable and homeless 17-30-year-olds. Selected participants will benefit from a fusion of football coaching, positive mindset training, and employability workshops, which aims to help attendees move into employment, education or training following completion.
Formed in 2015, the scheme has touched the lives of thousands of young people nationally, and BFCitC are proud to partner the project.
Keith Mabbutt, CEO of Street Soccer Foundation, said: “I am delighted to see our newest partnership with the outstanding team at Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC), the official charity arm of Burnley FC. Our national flagship programme, the Street Soccer Academy, is the number one football-led project tackling youth homelessness in England and it is so through our partnership-led approach, by people who genuinely care about helping to support, educate and inspire others through the power of football.
“This is why I am thrilled that we will now see the launch and delivery of the new Burnley Street Soccer Academy programme, which will strive to make a direct positive social impact in the local community, working together with the brilliant team at BFCitC. I can’t wait for us to get started. Together, Changing Lives through Football.”
Michael Colquhoun, Head of Community Welfare and Inclusion at BFCitC, added: “We are delighted to start with the Street Soccer Foundation, who already undertake brilliant and life changing work across the UK. This programme adds another offer to our Inclusion work, ensuring that there is a unique offer for those who are at risk of homelessness and want to engage with an exciting new programme. We are looking forward to making a difference in young people’s lives.”
