Burnley FC in the Community’s weekly Walking Football sessions continue to see a number of success stories across the season and regular participant David is certainly reaping the benefits!
David said: “I turned 80 this week but it certainly won’t prevent me appearing twice a week at the Turf for Walking Football once it resumes in the New Year.
“It is superb exercise and the BFCitC guys (and girls) are great. It is not just good exercise but it’s a great way to meet others – and the football is good too.
“Hands up to Burnley FC in the Community for laying on such very worthwhile free keep-fit sessions. As a non-footballer since I was a teenager (as a journalist I was always reporting on it, rather than playing) I find the others willing to forgive my inadequate ability and more than surprised when I do something right, like score, which I have done on a few occasions. And on the rare occasions when I have been whistled up by the referee for ‘running’ it has been a great opportunity to tell my children and grandchildren that I can obviously still run!”
A big Happy Birthday to David from everybody at Burnley FC in the Community who look forward to celebrating with you when sessions resume in the New Year!
