Nosa Agheyisi came off the bench to score the winning goal in a hard-fought win against a competitive Sunderland team.
Connor Lucas put the Clarets ahead on 18 minutes. Bafude Djabi slid a perfectly weighted pass out wide for Clinton Agho to cross and pick out Lucas at the far post.
The first half was a somewhat scrappy affair, and it was a mistake which lead to the Sunderland equaliser.
The second half saw goals scoring chances for both teams, and if it hadn’t been for some great goalkeeping from Henry Bunting-Jones, Sunderland would have been ahead mid-way through the second half.
With the game ending, Martin Enow split the opposition defence with a 30-yard ground pass which found the on-running Nosa Agheyisi, who then rounded the keep and slotted the ball in the empty net.
With 11 minutes of stoppage time added to the 90, the Clarets showed good character and game understanding to keep the ball in the Sunderland half to see out the game!
BFC Shadow Youth Team Head Coach, Chris Andrews said: “It wasn’t the best game of football we have played this season, but the important thing is that we kept chipping away and in the end, we probably did just enough to deserve the win. Henry Bunting-Jones was outstanding today and the saves he made were equally as important as the goals we scored.”
