Clarets Youth Board recruiting new members!

Burnley FC in the Community along with Burnley Football Club are recruiting for new members to join the Clarets Youth Board

The Clarets Youth Board was first set up in 2020, in recognition that young people currently have very little say in the things that impact them, from the way new projects and activities are informed right through to the decisions that are sometimes made for them, rather than with them.

We believe that young people are creative and curious, perceptive, and perfectly placed to help give their opinion on how we shape our work.

The Clarets are ‘One Club for All’ – so whether you’re a football fan or undecided, we believe the diverse opinions of different young people are important because what we do now will directly affect us as we inherit the future.

Aimed at those aged 12 to 18-years-old, the Clarets Youth Board will be represented by a cross-section of our diverse community around Burnley, East Lancashire, and West Yorkshire.

There are plenty of incentives available for members of the Clarets Youth Board, and it is a great opportunity for youngsters to have their say.

Clarets Youth Board – How does it work?

The Clarets Youth Board is organised by the dynamic team at Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC) and is the ideal place for young people to have a voice on local matters, provide feedback on our projects and help us improve our outreach across the community.

Meetings take place throughout the year and will be held at Burnley Football Club’s home ground – Turf Moor, meetings are tailored around helping shape BFCitC’s work throughout the region with a unique opportunity to also influence a key project directly with Burnley Football Club.

Lee Adams, Youth Services Manager at BFCitC, said: “We are developing the Clarets Youth Board to inform, quality assure, and direct our work at Burnley FC in the Community and Burnley Football Club, ensuring that our provision is youth focused, youth driven and is delivered in consultation with young people, capturing and encompassing their voice.”

Gurpri Bains, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Lead at Burnley Football Club, added: “I strongly encourage young people to apply to join the Clarets Youth Board, even if you might feel you’re not quite ready, guidance and support will be provided, it’s an exciting time to be part of our collective journey as we embrace differences and celebrate our similarities.”
