NEW DATES! There’s still time for YOU to join us on this once in a lifetime trip! On Saturday 24 March 2018, Burnley FC in the Community head back to Ghana in West Africa to continue the project-led work we have been involved with since 2014!
For the third time, we’ll be teaming up with the hugely popular and well respected UK-based volunteer travel organisation, African Adventures. With their help, we’ll be aiming to build on the great work we’ve already been involved in at the village of Woe, Ghana; also, we’ll build on the special ties we have established with the community there.
With a focus on the continuation of the building work we have already contributed to at the Dedzidi Primary School, in 2018 we’ll aim to assist in the completion of the school’s new brick-built classroom block.
Teams from Community helped to lay the initial foundations of the classroom block back in 2014, whilst we also moulded bricks and built classroom walls in 2015. This year, we will help to put together the final touches to the project! The purpose of the trip is to tangibly help the community and the children of Woe by lending our time, energy and resources.
The trip can be paid for directly or via fundraising and costs £1,995. As well as covering the cost of the trip, the adventure weekend and materials for the projects, part of the funds raised will go to us here at Burnley FC in the Community to support our charitable work across East Lancashire.
Community are here throughout the process to help you with your fundraising efforts, including support meetings, a signed Burnley FC shirt to auction, a matchday bucket collection and social media support.

As well as the project work, the trip will also include an exciting adventure weekend which consists of exploring parts of this beautiful, lush-green country.
Siobhán McNamara, Marketing and Events Manager at Burnley FC in the Community, said: “I took the trip to Ghana in 2015 with Community and can without hesitation say it was a truly amazing experience. It was great to see the tangible results of our building work after a week, whilst also knowing our trip was benefitting those at home as well.”
“It’s very exciting to think we’ll be returning to this special community and building on our ties there. I’d encourage anyone who has thought about taking a trip like this before to come along to the information evening and find out more!”
If you have any questions, please email Siobhán McNamara at email@example.com or call 01282 704716. Volunteers aged under 16 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
