Veterans Social Session

Veterans Social Session

Our Veterans social sessions will return on Thursday 20th May at The BFCitC Community Kitchen.

What is it?

Our weekly social sessions offer local veterans the chance to pull up a sandbag and connect with others who have served, while enjoying free refreshments and accessing links to other opportunities available such as health initiatives and employment help.

During the sessions there is the chance to chat with others who have served and share stories and laughter that is unique amongst members of the armed forces community. Something that many people who have served miss when returning to civilian life.

There is also the chance for those who like social competition to play cards, dominoes, indoor bowls, take part in quizzes and enjoy other activities. These sessions also provide opportunities to go on trips to other groups, events and experiences.

Where is it?

The sessions take place at the Burnley FC in the Community Kitchen, which is located at Unit 83 in the Upper Market Square of Charter Walk Shopping Centre (above New Look) in the heart of Burnley town centre.

When is it?

The sessions run between 13:00 – 15:00 every Thursday afternoon and are regularly attended and supported by local authorities who can provide support for veterans including Lancashire NHS Trust, Help for Heroes and the Veterans Welfare Service.

What our veterans say…

“It’s a chance for us all to come together again and have the banter that we’re used to that other people might not necessarily get.” – Harry (2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rangers)

“I’ve made some good pals since coming here, it’s another sense of belonging. A lot of us miss that from when we were squaddies.” – Dave (Royal Engineers)
