Claret in Mind

Mental health problems affect one in four people at some point, yet the stigma around using mental health services stops many people from seeking the help they need. Burnley FC in the Community, by the way of offering football sessions for those living with mental health problems, aim to:

  • Raise awareness of mental health issues.
  • Reduce stigma of mental health conditions.
  • Provide a weekly physical activity session in order to help achieve a positive mental wellbeing.
  • Showcase the role sport can play in supporting people with mental health issues.

Service User sessions

The programme will look to target adults who are already working with Mental Health Services and will include a variety of sports and physical activities. This programme is open to service users and will take place in the Elite Training Centre at Turf Moor, behind the James Hargreaves Stand, from 13:00 – 14:00 on Monday afternoons.

If you are a service user, or if you would like to signpost individuals to this programme, please contact Abby Turner, Head of Health and Wellbeing, on 01282 704716 or a.turner@burnleyfc.com.
