Age UK state that over 1 million people aged 65+ in the UK are lonely. Our award-winning Extra Time programme helps tackle issues such as loneliness and social isolation, as well as helping to increase participation in physical activity among the senior community. Our friendly and welcoming team provide a range of activities to get involved in.
Extra Time runs every Wednesday morning from 10:00 – 12:00 in the Jimmy McIlroy Stand at Turf Moor. This programme is free and is aimed at the over 50s of the community.

Also for over 50s, Extra Time Active takes place between 10am to 12pm on Thursdays at our community facility The Leisure Box, Northlight, Brierfield, BB9 5NH (the old Brierfield Mill).
For only £4, senior citizens can enjoy activities like table tennis, badminton and walking football, as well as tea, coffee, cake and plenty of chat!

By Bus: M5 route from Nelson or Burnley to Brierfield Town Hall then five minutes walk via Bridge Street (opposite the Town Hall) to Glen Way.
By Train: Nelson Interchange, Burnley Central or Burnley Barracks to Brierfield Station then five minutes walk via Glen Way.
