Ilesanmi strikes to move the Clarets up to second in the table
The Shadow Youth Team edged a tight encounter against a well organised Birmingham City side managing to leapfrog them into second place.
Both sides were matching each other during the first half and chances for both teams were mostly limited to set pieces. Luke Tabone had the best chance for Burnley but his back-post header was just off target.
The second half was much the same as the first in the early stages but the Shadow Youth Team managed to find another gear and soon piled the pressure on. A sweeping move involving Captain Lewis Richmond and fellow midfielder Bafude Djabi, cut through the Birmingham midfield to find Ilesanmi who’s neat turn and finish proved to be the deciding goal.
BFC Shadow Youth Team Head Coach, Chris Andrews said: “Games are always tough against Birmingham. They are physically strong, break quickly when they regain possession and will work until the last minute. Our players stood up to the test today and had the better opportunities in front of goal. Josh Ilesanmi capped off a good week by netting the winner, he is full of confidence at the minute and that is being reflected in his performances.”
