Two brilliant strikes in the second half secured all three points in a closely contested match against the Cobblers.
The Shadow Youth Team made a good start to the game with Ryan Rogers delivering some testing crosses from the right side of midfield early on. Both teams had good chances to score in the first half, but it was Northampton who took the lead through a direct free-kick from the edge of the box.
The second half started in similar fashion to the first, with chances being created by the Clarets. It was a moment of individual skill that led to the equaliser, as Fabio Fad weaved his way past the Northampton defenders before finding the top-right corner from 20 yards.
The equaliser boosted the Shadow Youth Team’s confidence and they stepped up another level to create numerous chances. On 79 minutes, Chezzy Tshife found Joe Kouadio with a superb 40-yard pass which Kouadio hit first time to volley past the goalkeeper and win the game.
Shadow Youth Team Head Coach, Chris Andrews, said: “It was a good contest today and one where the players had to take responsibility and really apply themselves out on the pitch. Whilst the score line was close, our performance was fully deserving of the win.
“We have a good group of players and there is a lot of competition for places. The players who came off the bench played a big part in the game and I thought Fabio was a key player for us today.”
