Burnley FC in the Community are now recruiting for runners of all abilities to run the Burnley 10k for the charity on Sunday 17th July.
We have places up for grabs for runners to compete in the race and help raise funds for BFCitC, with the race to start and end at Turf Moor.
This is an amazing opportunity, with the race returning for the first time since the pandemic.
Those taking part will be encouraged to support Burnley Football Club’s official charity.
A historic landmark in the town, Turf Moor will be the destination for the Burnley 10k, and Club chairman Alan Pace will help kick-off the event.
Setting off from the ground, runners will turn onto Todmorden Road before a 2k section through Towneley Park.
They will follow the tree-lined causeway out of the park for a long downhill section along Todmorden Road.
The route then levels out to cross Harry Potts Way at Turf Moor and follows Belvedere Road, turning into Thompson Park and taking in the boating lake and Italian Gardens.
Runners then leave Thompson Park at Queen Victoria Road and head up Queens Park Road into Brun Valley before taking Harry Potts Way to their Turf Moor finish.
Working in partnership with the Club and Burnley Borough Council, Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, which organises the 10K, hopes to increase community engagement for even more people to get involved with the event – either competing or volunteering.
Runners are encouraged to take part whatever their ability or reason – whether it be for fun, a personal challenge or to raise funds for a chosen charity.
As a charity, fundraising plays a vital part in the delivery of over 50 of our projects, which is split into education and employability, community welfare and inclusion and football development, supporting residents across Burnley, East Lancashire and West Yorkshire.
The Burnley 10k brings the whole town together each year, which attracts over 1,500 runners every summer.
It’s the perfect activity to test yourself, whether you’re a keen runner aiming for a personal best, or just looking to raise funds and enjoy the experience.
So, get your running shoes on and help support Burnley FC in the Community!
