The morning after Burnley FC’s Europa League victory over Istanbul Basaksehir F.K. signalled the start of chapter two for Scott Cunliffe’s RunAway fundraising challenge.
Just under a week later, Scott is closing in on Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage ahead of the Clarets’ Premier League away game this Sunday. The first two days of the run saw Scott tackle Pennine Way and the Peak District on the way to Derbyshire.
Scott said: “There were more feet of ascending and descending land in two days of running along the spine of Britain than there was in the whole nine days of running to Southampton! The rugged beauty and sharp contours of the trail were easy on the eye but hard on the legs.”
Scott returned to Burnley at the end of day two for a family celebration, before being driven back down to the point where he finished in Derbyshire by his friend Nik so that he could pick up where he left off.
He ran an amazing 69k on Monday and has so far clocked up well over 250k on his way to West London.
