Here at Burnley FC in the Community we place a large amount of value on the development of local young people and the talent they possess by providing excellent opportunities for those who show outstanding potential. The aim of our PDC is to provide a professional coaching environment in which to develop the techniques, skills and tactical awareness of talented players – allowing for the individuals to reach their full potential on the pitch.

This development is facilitated through weekly training sessions that are delivered by highly qualified coaches who have a wealth of experience within the elite game. Training takes the format of age-appropriate activities to optimise development at different ages. The PDC includes two phases every Wednesday evening:

Primary School – ETC at Turf Moor

  • 6, 7 and 8-year-olds between 5-6pm.
  • 9, 10 and 11-year-olds between 6-7pm.

Secondary School – Prairie Sports Village

  • Years 7 and 8 between 7:30-8:30pm.
  • Year 9 between 8:30-9:30pm.
  • Years 10 and 11 between 8:30-9:30pm.

We have expanded our PDC to include primary ages so that children can benefit from high-calibre coaching from an early age. The squads will compete in regular fixtures and competitions against teams ranging from grassroots clubs, other PDC’s and academies from across the region. This provides players with an opportunity to showcase their ability in what will be a competitive and fast-paced environment.

The PDC works closely with the Burnley FC Academy and both initiatives share the same philosophy and training syllabus. The PDC will provide a mirrored centre in which the academy can identify talented players and compete against them in regular fixtures.

The seamless link with the academy will allow for a fully integrated performance pathway for exceptionally gifted PDC players. Scouts from the academy will observe players who are referred to them by their PDC Head Coach and make a judgement based on a players’ performance throughout training and/or during matches.

The PDC will run for a block of 12 weeks at a time. Throughout this period, players will take part in hour-long training sessions on full size 3G pitches. At the end of each block of training sessions, players will be given a personalised constructive report based upon their performances and developments.

WHEN: Wednesday evenings (see group times above).

AGES: 6-16-year-olds.

COST: £48 for 12 weeks.
