Summer tournament success for new SYT recruits!

New recruits for our Shadow Youth Team were invited to take part in a Summer Tournament at Fleetwood Town FC training ground ‘Poolfoot Farm’, against other clubs from the Northwest.

The tournament was a huge success for the players involved as they showed a high level of quality, desire, and professionalism.

An impressive start to the tournament saw the team undefeated scoring nineteen goals without reply!

There was an immediate rhythm between the players, which allowed us to play quick, direct football allowing the group to be effective within the fixtures.

All the players enjoyed themselves on and off the pitch, and after qualifying for the semi-finals the team faced Blackburn Rovers FC.

Another dominant display from the players saw them progress into the final where they faced the hosts Fleetwood Town FC.

A highly contested fixture took place with both sides going for the victory, an early goal settled any nerves as the team went on to secure a 3-1 victory to secure the trophy.

The day was a huge success, with all enjoying the hot weather and competitive nature of the tournament!

Lead coaches Connor Logue and Keenan Wozny highlighted,

“There were many stand out players today, Ollie played a huge role on the pitch by being an effective link player, scoring several goals and creating numerous attacks”.

“Austin was immense beating players 1v1 and often producing an end product, Harley was great at winning the ball in defensive areas and driving us forward by stepping into midfield and distributing whilst getting on the scoresheet himself”.

“All the players showcased their abilities throughout the day and have demonstrated their intentions for the upcoming season, we hope and are confident these lads will continue to progress it was nice to win the tournament as it was a great way to introduce them into the SYT Programme”.
