Veteran Project receives the Silver Award at Knowsley Hall

On Wednesday, 3rd November, 38 North West organisations were recognised by Defence in the Defence Relationship Management (DRM) #EmployerRecognitionScheme Silver Awards at Knowsley Hall. Two of the Burnley FC in the Community Staff, Daniella Worth (Veterans Programme Coordinator) and John Pluckwell (Veterans Project Officer), attended on behalf of the charity to receive the Silver Award from Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside, Mr Mark FW Blundell Esq, and Commodore Phil Waterhouse ADC RAF.

An evening of splendour in Knowsley Hall, a magnificent building set in a private walled estate offering a magical ‘Hogwarts’ feel to the event. Knowsley Hall has welcomed royalty and distinguished visitors since it originally opened its doors in 1495, a fitting venue to recognise those that support our Armed Forces. The evening was filled with glamour, the food exceptional, and the hosts made the whole event one to remember.

Burnley Football Club in the Community continues to work hard to support veterans and plans to apply for the DERS Gold Award to recognise the fantastic work by the project. A poignant reminder at this time of year with Remembrance Sunday quickly approaching. We give thanks to those who continue to serve and those who have served our country during the most troubling times, and of course, those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. To those that left never to return, to those that returned but were never the same. Lest We Forget.
