Whitehough hosts teams for Clarets International Academy Cup

Academy sides from clubs around the world came to Burnley for the Clarets Academy International Cup at Barnfield Training Centre last week.

 

Taking place at the Clarets’ state-of-the-art training facility, the tournament played host to the top young talents across the global game from Saturday 28th-Monday 30th May.

 

Sixteen teams from eight different countries took part in the 9v9 competition, with Manchester United, Chelsea, AC Sparta Prague, St Pauli, Lech Poznan, Manchester City, Liverpool, Glasgow Rangers, Dundee United, Birmingham City, Malmo, National Madeira, EF Faro, CR Campus Futebol and Cedar Stars Academy all taking part alongside Burnley.

 

AC Sparta Prague were the eventual winners of the tournament after they defeated Lech Poznan.

 

And Burnley FC were delighted to welcome AC Sparta Prague, Malmo, St Pauli Cedar Stars Academy who stayed at BFCitC’s facility Whitehough, where they enjoyed the games room and some of our outdoor activities.

“It was an excellent turnout and tournament, and brilliant to see all the developing talent compete at our facility in Burnley.”
